CPS Remains Leader Among PSOs Nationally

May 13, 2014    |   By: Calevir

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality demographics of Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs) again identifies the Center as a leader, among 80 PSOs nationally, in the level of participation. The Center is 1 of only 7 with more than 250 contracts and 1 of only 12 with more than 10,000 events reported to the PSO by its participants for learning, sharing and error prevention efforts.  Other PSO demographics reveal the majority of PSOs are not for profits and collect events from all clinical specialties electronically, like the Center; however, the Center differs from the majority of PSOs by being an independent organization (not a component of another company) and collecting all categories of events defined by AHRQ. More information on national PSO demographics will be included in the Summer edition of PSONews to be released in early June.
