Safety Checklists for 10 Clinical Areas of Risk to Patients

Patient safety checklists for each of the 10 focus areas of the Partnership for Patients national campaign are now available from the AHA’s Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence initiative. Checklists are available for adverse drug events, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, central line-associated blood stream infections, early elective deliveries, injuries from falls and immobility, hospital-acquired pressure ulcers, preventable readmissions, surgical site infections, ventilator-associated pneumonias and events and venous thromboembolisms.   Checklists have been proven as an effective tool to reduce the incidence of medical mistakes.
