13 Missouri Hospitals Join Initiative to Improve Communication and Teamwork

As part of MOCPS’ People, Priorities & Learning Together initiative, 13 Missouri hospitals have joined CUSP Teamwork & Communication Tools, launched this month, to increase patient safety at the bedside by improving communication and hand-offs at the bedside!

This 6-month module builds upon The Basics of CUSP, our first module offered last fall to teach units how to implement the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP). (CUSP is an evidenced-based safety improvement program designed by Johns Hopkins University to help bedside caregivers drive safety and quality improvement on their units)

In CUSP Teamwork & Communication Tools, units will continue to proactively seek out and solve defects on their unit, as well as learn how to implement Multi-disciplinary Rounds with Daily Goals and Structured Huddles. Contact Kimberly O’Brien for more info.

It is proven that when fully implemented, these interventions improve caregiver communication, thereby increasing patient safety at the bedside.   We are proud of these 13 hospitals and look forward to working with them in the months to come!
